I'm not sure if I have actually fell in love with a perfume before, and I don't understand why it has taken me so long to mention this little gem on my blog - after all, Fancy was launched in 2008! I remember smelling it for the first time in a magazine... so warmly sweet and delectable... it was love at first whiff, and I knew I had to get my hands on it! I immediately added it to my wishlist and my boyfriend surprised me the next Christmas with a deluxe gift box containing the perfume itself, a handy roll-on version, a lotion and a bubble bath.
Fancy by Jessica Simpson is a sexy, luscious gourmand oriental/vanilla fragrance. Perfumer Alexis Dadier whips up a delectable scent, with top notes of pear, apricot and red berries, middle notes of gardenia, jasmine, almond and caramel with sensuous base notes of sandalwood, vanilla and amber. I have always been bad at describing scents but to me, Fancy smells of caramel, vanilla and powder, which makes for a warm and deliciously sweet but never sickly fragrance.
I think Fancy is a pretty strong scent so if gourmand pefumes are not your thing... stay away! It it less sickening than Aquolina Pink Sugar, for example, and to me, Fancy is more grown-up than your typical overly sweet perfume that is aimed at teens or young adults. It also has good lasting power, and this being my all-time favorite fragrance, I think it's appropriate for every occasion and I never get tired of it.
